In January 2016 a wave of fresh and exciting apprenticeships were released in England. These programmes were developed by teams of commercial employers in the Food & Drink sector, to ensure they meet the needs of 21st century businesses and their apprentices.
The Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), commissioned this raft of new apprenticeships to ensure that England’s apprentices emerge with the skills, knowledge and behaviours to drive today’s businesses forward. All apprentices must take an independent assessment at the end of their training to demonstrate the KSBs set out in the occupational standard.
Who have they been designed for and why?
Designed only for English apprentices, they have been developed to bring the best new talent into our industries and equp them with the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to ensure individuals, businesses and sectors will thrive.
National Food and Drink Training (NFDT) was established in 2015 as a rebrand of Scottish Bakers training provision. This was a direct result of the strengthening of its portfolio to include lean manufacturing techniques and the delivery of the new Food Manufacturing Excellence (FME) qualifications.
