Mad Batter Bakery team undertakes SVQ in Food Sales & Sevice SkillsPatrick Finnigan
Coatbridge based Mad Batter Bakery is an artisan coffee and ice cream shop selling carefully crafted cupcakes, cheesecakes and tarts as well as a wide range of savouries and sandwiches and freshly made soup.
David and Graeme created Mad Batter Bakery as a start-up 3 years ago blending David's' passion for baking and Graeme's years of retail experience to create a unique experience for customers.
Over the three years the business has grown and grown and today the shop serves bespoke cupcakes, deserts and fresh produce hot food to its customers.
In the short time they have been operating, Mad Batter has built up a loyal customer base and has won numerous awards.
David and Graeme put their successes down to the fantastic team they have put together who all have a passion for great food and great service and all help create a friendly relaxing atmosphere that customers enjoy.
Never one to rest on their laurels, Mad Batter are always looking to improve both front and back of house so they made a decision to invest in the skills of their team. The business currently has three colleagues working through their Food Sales and Service Skills SVQ to further enhance both their colleagues learning and the offer the provide their customers as well as now incorporating a just eat offer.
The business is working with Scottish Bakers specialist training arm National Food and Drink Training (NFDT) to support the team.
"The Mad Batter Bakery has a great story to tell and its bakeries like this, investing in training to grow and develop for the future, that will lead the way as a shining example for others. We look forward to supporting David Graeme and their team on their journey."
National Food and Drink Training (NFDT) was established in 2015 as a rebrand of Scottish Bakers training provision. This was a direct result of the strengthening of its portfolio to include lean manufacturing techniques and the delivery of the new Food Manufacturing Excellence (FME) qualifications.
