Our Training Advisor in England has been working with Steven Masterman at Simmons the Bakers on is Level 2 Diploma in Bakery.
Steven has recently completed his qualification and achieved a Distinction grade.
Steven has had fantastic support and guidance from the team at Simmons throughout his time as the company apprentice. He has worked/trained in all departments learning traditional craft baking skills, confectionary, and helping with product development.
Steven enjoyed his practical baking and theory sessions with Louise, producing some very nice products such as fruit loaves, puff pastry and croissants for all the team to sample and give feedback.
The success of the programme within the company has led to Steven becoming the mentor for the new bakery apprentice Charlie Butcher who has recently started on the L2 programme at Simmons. Charlie's training will follow a similar route to Steven with the continued support and guidance of NFDT training advisor Louise West.
Well done Steven and we wish Charlie well on his apprenticeship journey!
National Food and Drink Training (NFDT) was established in 2015 as a rebrand of Scottish Bakers training provision. This was a direct result of the strengthening of its portfolio to include lean manufacturing techniques and the delivery of the new Food Manufacturing Excellence (FME) qualifications.
