Course Details

Food Manufacturing Excellence (FME) offers those working in food manufacturing or the supply chain environment, the ability to implement a sustainable, continuous improvement programme for the workplace through a unique blend of change management, team working, improvement tools and techniques which all work together to deliver change.

The FME qualification is suitable for those working in a food supply chain business which is already on or preparing to embark on an improvement journey that allows employees to make a significant contribution to the business improvement process. It empowers staff to help "Achieve Excellence" as part of the overall business strategy.

The candidates work and train in project teams to develop the critical skills and knowledge to deliver business improvement and sustainable growth through change management. This sits at the heart of "Lean Principles" where communication, behaviour and team working perform together to create a sustainable continuous improvement culture.

The FME qualifications support skills development in areas critical to achieving sustainable Lean practices such as change management, and leadership. When used together with other food and drink sector qualifications, they support a sustainable Lean implementation programme which results in long term cultural changes rather than a 'one off' solution.

FME is ideal for food manufacturing organisations who operate quality production practices such as lean manufacturing and six sigma.

Qualification suitable for:

  • Operatives, supervisors and managers working in the food manufacture and supply chain businesses (Level 2)
  • Improvement/lean project team leaders or supervisors responsible for implementation and control of activity (Level 3)
